Sheep Pen Cottage - Every possible need catered for worth every one of the 5 Stars. The cottage was lovely and in a beautiful location. It was extremely well equipped, every possible need had been catered for. There were some really nice touches like maps of the local area provided with walks marked on them. We have stayed in many different self catering accomodations and this was by far the best.

"What a beautiful place to stay! The house was fabulously well-equipped, clean luxurious and in gorgeous countryside surroundings. The little touches made it - there was milk in the fridge so we have tea on arrival, there was a bathrobe each shampoos and soaps to use. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in the local area - it was easy to drive to Durham centre. We were using it as a base for the Great North Run and it was perfect - you cant beat coming back to a comfy couch a warm fire and that view! Thanks and we''ll be visiting again." "Sheep Pen Cottage is in a beautiful country setting but only 10 mins easy drive from Durham and 25 mins from Beamish so perfect situation for us.
The cottage was scrupulousy clean - it is beautifully decorated but still
has a lovely relaxed feel and is very comfortable -we all wanted to take our beds home with us! There is a little private garden,very sheltered,which gets the evening sun -good for a wee glass of wine before dinner . "

Like staying in a showhome....
The standard of the accommodation almost ruined our mini-break - in that once settled in - we didn''t want to venture out ! In the end we forced ourselves and fell in love with the area. The farm is in a secluded spot yet very handy for the City of Durham and for the A1 to explore further. We stayed in the apartment which was beautifully equipped with quality items. From the standard of the cutlery and crockery to the comfort of the beds, everything felt 5 star. Nice touches like a DVD library, dressing gowns, a posh coffee machine and flatscreen TVs in the bedrooms enhance the package. We stayed 3 nights for a spring break, and will return...Stayed March 2011 in Sheep Pen Cottage at Durham
