4 Star Gold
Riding Cottage is our very first holiday cottage – and still a firm favourite with guests. Awarded 4 Star Gold, it offers the perfect blend of countryside charm, comfort and quality for a truly relaxing stay.
Step inside and enjoy a spacious, open-plan country interior designed for comfort and relaxation. With exposed beams, a cosy wood-burning stove, and plenty of comfy sofas and chairs, it’s the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. Curl up with a book, enjoy a family game, watch a DVD, or simply relax with a glass of something special.
The cottage is beautifully furnished throughout with high-quality finishes and thoughtful little extras to make your stay effortless. You’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, everything you need for self-catering, and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Riding Cottage sleeps up to four guests across two stunning bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom and character beams. Both rooms feature flexible zip-and-link beds, allowing you to choose between king-size or twin configurations to suit couples, friends or families.
Outside, enjoy your own private, secure patio garden – a real suntrap and ideal for morning coffee or evening drinks. There is also ample free parking for your convenience.
Make your stay even more special by adding a delicious farmhouse breakfast. You can also pre-order evening meals for a truly relaxing break, or enjoy the many local places to eat. Prefer to cook? The fully fitted kitchen provides everything you need to self-cater at your own pace.
Riding Cottage enjoys the best of both worlds – just 1.5 miles from Beamish Museum, yet surrounded by peaceful countryside on our family farm, Riding Farm. Wake up to beautiful rural views and explore a network of nearby footpaths and cycleways, rich with local wildlife.
Perfect for couples and families alike, the cottage is ideally positioned for discovering the North East:
Beamish Museum – “The Living Museum of the North”
- Kynren at Bishop Auckland
- Hadrian’s Wall

Chester-le-Street, Team Valley and Newcastle/Gateshead are just 4 miles away, while the historic city of Durham – a World Heritage Site – is only 10 miles from the cottage.
