Most comfortable, with entertaining and informative hosts. Stay of 2 nights to visit Beamish Museum en route to Fort William from Suffolk via York.

Relaxing Stay at Lapwing Cottage

We stayed for 2 nights for a relaxing break after our daughters wedding and it was perfect. We stayed in one of the self-catering cottages - Lapwing Cottage and just did our own thing - which was very little! Had breakfast sat outside in our own little garden looking at the Angel of the North and then meandered over to the coast. Cottage was very comfortable and well equipped, and bed super-comfortable. Will definitely be back!

Brilliant location; tranquil and peaceful surroundings yet near enough to A1 for access to North East attractions of Gateshead, Newcastle, Durham, and surrounding areas.

Wonderful accommodation. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - just what we needed; peace and tranquillity, superb accommodation, brilliant location, helpful and really nice owners - everything we could hope for Lapwing had. No doubt we will be back and will also recommend to anyone we know who might want to visit the area.

If you're here - you already know - don't you. Feb breks ( breakfast) groovy pad bona location and Beamish just up the road - Steam on!! We'll be back

Fantastic week of sun and lots of walking beautiful countryside so quiet and perfect covered a lot of miles under foot!!! We did the Pennine Way a few years ago so we are able to return to Hadrian's Wall and walk part of it again simple love this area and the accommodation is great can not fault it so comfortable and the views from the back door are fantastic! Lovely to sit out there in the evening with a glass of wine. Watched some deer cross the fields below us one morning! Wonderful thank you for a fantastic week!

One word Fabulous!

Excellent standards of cleanliness and decor. Personal little touches like flowers and chocolates on arrival were lovely gestures. The provision of bathroom toiletries and dressing gowns exceeded expectations.

Very handy for the surrounding area. Close to Newcastle and the Metro Centre - only about 10 mins drive away but you could be in the middle of nowhere when at the cottages. Would recommend them.

Probably the best holiday accommodation we have stayed in really comfy bed. Came primarily to visit Beamish Museum Lapwing Cottage was so hand spent 2 full days the Beamish Museum vouchers where a bonus.

Excellent Stay - Made the Birthday. Lapwing Cottage has everything we wanted and more. What a warm welcome we received we could also have breakfast in the farm house not to be missed its the best we have had

Stayed in Lapwing Cottage June 2011

Best accommodation by far better than any hotel nothing too much trouble for Angus and Louise - nice treat having breakfast as well in the farm house
